Message for World Peace Day 2023

The 21st of September is the United Nations International Day of Peace each year. The message from Vishwaguruji, founder of Yoga in Daily Life and the Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Council, is that world peace begins with inner peace.

International Peace Day is the day to act globally

VIENNA 21 September 2023

“Be the change you wish to see in the World” as said by respected Mahatma Gandhiji, and “One in all and all in one”, often spoken by immortal Paramhans Swami Madhavanandaji, are timeless directions humanity should strive on.

Founding author of Yoga in Daily Life and initiator of the Sri Swami Madhavananda World Peace Council, Vishwaguruji Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda, also repeatedly outlines:

“To live sustainably on this planet and to achieve lasting world peace, humans must re-awaken to the vital significance of maintaining their ethical and spiritual values, whilst at the same time fostering a genuine commitment to care for the community of life – all of life – with understanding, compassion and love. Revival of humanity’s ethical and spiritual values is the ‘first step’ in affecting the change we want to see for Mother Earth.”

We should avoid the ongoing impression that peace is becoming just a word and not a state of mind or the state of society’s affairs. Many talk about it, some lecture on it, and unfortunately too often, 'Peace' as a topic is just an excuse for a lack of activities.

Where and how do we start, one might think? Best is now and best is within ourselves.

One of the most helpful pearls of wisdom shared with us by Vishwaguruji, is the fact that “there is no outer peace without inner peace first”. Here, Yoga is one of the best ways to re-establish that initial inner peace. We need no special dress or equipment, just ourselves, a sitting position and then dive within.

This is by far the best one can do to create a society of inner-peaceful individuals, living in peaceful and loving relations with others, thus creating the necessary foundation for the peaceful society and peaceful world we all deserve.
