Begin your yoga practice with Sarva Hita Asanas

The foundation of the Yoga in Daily Life System, created by Vishwaguruji Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda, is Level 1 – also known as Sarva Hita Asanas, or 'exercises that benefit all'.

These exercises are designed to enhance the health of the entire body, as well as promote balance in the mind and soul. Regardless of age or physical condition, anyone can perform the Sarva Hita Asanas, even after illness or injury.

Whether your goal is to maintain your health, achieve inner peace and balance, improve concentration, meditate, or attain spiritual enlightenment, it is recommended to start yoga gradually, with physical and breathing exercises. Sarva Hita Asanas are basic exercises that serve as a foundation for all further yoga practices and advanced techniques.

Systematically practising these Level 1 techniques will help you learn and become established in the basics of proper breathing and correct posture. Your body will become more flexible, your muscles strengthened, your joints will become more robust and your digestive system more functional.

These exercises are also beneficial for those who wish to meditate, since they help calm and balance the mind and nervous system, and prepare the body for long periods of sitting comfortably and motionless in a meditation posture.

The Sarva Hita Asanas program is designed to be practised daily for three months and is divided into six parts, each lasting two weeks. Each part includes physical exercises, breathing practices and relaxation techniques. As you progress through the program, you can also begin practising the first level of Self-Inquiry Meditation.

Even if you've previously done some yoga and meditation, many people have benefited greatly by creating a firmer foundation for their existing practice with the Sarva Hita Asanas of Yoga in Daily Life.
