His Holiness Swamiji participates at the 59th UN NGO's Conference

On September 6th 2006, His Holiness Vishwaguru Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda attended the 59th Annual Conference for NGO's at the United Nations in New York. The conference theme was "Unfinished Business - Effective Partnership for Human Security and Sustainable Development" in acknowledgement of the ongoing efforts Non-Government Organisations are forging to achieve the eight Millennium Development Goals by 2015.

President of the General Assembly, Jan Eliasson said that there is 1.2 billion people in the world without access to clean drinking water. He called for concrete action from NGOs to help people in need to get clean water.

Provision of clean, safe water is the very outcome of the humanitarian initiative that His Holiness Vishwaguru Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda has undertaken in the Pali District of Rajasthan/India. His unique Desert Rainwater Harvesting Initiative has successfully captured millions of litres from recent monsoon rains, ready for distribution throughout the district in the coming hot & dry summer months.
