Volunteers for Australian Dungog Yoga Center
Description Yoga in Daily Life’s retreat property is located on 640 acres just outside the rural township of Dungog, 3 hours north of Sydney. The property presently offers acres of undulating, wild native bush with an abundance of Australian flora and fauna at an elevation of 500m above sea level with expansive 280 degree views. We are still in the early stages of developing our vision of a sustainable Meditation & Yoga Retreat, Conference Facility and Wildlife Refuge. To date there is a magnificent wooden platform upon overseeing fantastic views where we practice sunrise and sunset meditations & yoga exercises. There are rudimentary bush camping facilities enhancing the experience of being self-sufficient in a pristine environment. Australia-wide our not-for-profit organisation is supported and managed by volunteers and currently up at Dungog we are clearing lantana and scrub, improving vehicle access on our road, and slashing fields (thank goodness for ride-on mowers & tractors). Development plans are being submitted to Council after which there will be more specific jobs as we construct and build our vision. Right now we week volunteers who would like to contribute their positive energy, enthusiasm or skills for the establishment of a grand vision! Many of the tasks do not require specific skills – just a willingness to get involved, therefore everyone is welcome to help in the creation of Yoga in Daily Life’s Centre for Health and Sustainability. In return we can provide meals, a tent and sleeping mattress however, other amenities are minimal and it is rainwater tank water for washing. If you enjoy being in nature, living in simplicity and roughing it then this experience is for you. The property is large and not easily accessible so we generally coordinate volunteers coming to the property whenever a team drives up from Sydney. Length of stay can be determined, anywhere from a weekend to a month, or longer if someone is truly keen! Visitors to the property are requested to follow the principles of a yoga lifestyle which includes a Vegetarian diet (no meat, seafood or eggs), no alcohol, cigarettes or recreational drugs. All such substances are prohibited on the property
