Raksha Bandan

Raksha Bandan - 20 August 2013-2

The International day of Brothers & Sisters.

In the European Summer Retreat of Yoga in Daily Life children were all excitedly tying the Rakhi on Vishwaguru Mahamandaleshwar Swami Maheshwaranandji's wrists. The occasion of full moon and raksha bandan marks the ceremony where girls tie a thread around their chosen brothers wrist. The brother in turn take a vow to protect their sister life long, thus helping create supportive relations in society.

It's a very ancient festival and Yoga in Daily Life practitioners have been celebrating, with thousands of rakhi's going around from sisters to brothers as a sign of mutual understanding. It reminds us to respect women, maintain our families and develop more and more healthy relations amongst the communities in which we live.

We wish you a Happy Raksha Bandan.
